To connect a GoDaddy domain to any server, follow these steps:

Step 1: Obtain the DNS information for your server. This typically includes the nameservers or IP address provided by your hosting provider.

Step 2: Log in to your GoDaddy account at www.godaddy.com.

Step 3: Go to the “Domains” section and select the domain you want to connect to your server.

Step 4: Look for the “DNS” or “Manage DNS” option for your domain. Click on it to access the DNS management page.

Step 5: In the DNS management page, locate the existing records and make note of them. You may want to take a screenshot or write down the current settings to ensure you don’t lose any important configurations.

Step 6: Remove any existing DNS records that may interfere with the new server connection. This typically involves deleting records like A, CNAME, or MX records associated with the previous hosting provider.

Step 7: Add the new DNS records provided by your server hosting provider. These records usually include nameservers or IP addresses. Here’s how to add them:

  • Click on the “Add” or “Add Record” button.
  • Select the record type (e.g., “A” for an IP address or “NS” for nameservers).
  • Enter the hostname (e.g., “@” or “www“) depending on the instructions provided by your hosting provider.
  • Enter the corresponding IP address or nameserver information in the “Points to” or “Value” field.
  • Save or apply the changes.

Step 8: Wait for the DNS changes to propagate. This process may take some time, usually a few hours to up to 48 hours, for the changes to take effect globally.

Step 9: Test the connection by accessing your domain from a web browser. If the DNS propagation is complete, your domain should now be connected to the new server.

Note: DNS management interfaces may vary slightly in the GoDaddy dashboard. If you encounter any difficulties, refer to GoDaddy’s documentation or contact their customer support for assistance. Additionally, it’s important to ensure that you have the correct DNS information from your server hosting provider before making any changes to your GoDaddy DNS settings.
